outhouse by sverre fehn

So you’ve just won the Pritzker Prize and the world’s your oyster. Those big juicy commissions are going to start coming in even faster, you might not even want/need to enter any competitions anymore since people will be asking for you by name now, and for that whole next year you’ll largely be considered the best in the business. That’s why it was very fun to learn that the first project Sverre Fehn worked on after this 1997 Pritzker win was the outhouse below. It’s on the far end of the parking lot connected to his brilliant Norwegian Glacier Museum. As the museum director told us, “I called him and said ‘Congratulations on winning the Pritzker. We need an outhouse. Can you do it?’”

Kevin Carter

i have been searching for this photo sometime as i couldn't remember the name of the photographer,
by chance i got it today from the news of Joao Silva losing his legs in Landmine.

the photographer Kevin Carter admitted few years later after publishing this photo that he didn't nothing to the little girl apart from releasing the shutter and he committed suicide soon after.

it's just a dilemma while you could take the picture and arouse the awareness of the entire world, or save the little kid from the eagle. either act could probably lead to an absolutely different life of kevin... but no one is possible to judge, as he literally changed the mind of the world.

my favorite masters

i heard of them almost once i studied architecture
but why didn't i try to understand their work until now?

sometimes you just have to admit how ridiculous you were

photography in practice

the course ended with the discussion with per olaf and dagur eggertson
i believe this would be a very special practice in our architectural education
besides, each of us got a book from pavlina which will lead to our permanent memory on the course

when the sun shine on the leaves and filtered into super natural pattern,
our static volumes become alive.

how stupid we are when someone put it into a parametric imitation.

the second marathon review ended today.

the construction is coming through the investigation, or maybe it's more suitable to call it personal reflection from oneself. it's not about anything outside but within one's emotion and interpretation.

'if there is something you would really like to go for,
do it and we will all agree later'
this is a studio which does not only in search of place and construction,
but what you truly are.

so did the dialogue between the territory and ourselves begin?

how fun it would be if we are able to work in a concrete factory, test on whatever we like and just have fun
